Nicki French
May 2005,

Now I know I haven't written one of these for ages - and Terry has told me off more than once - but that's really because I have been joining in on the Message Board, so for anyone who still wants the Nicki Message from time to time, please accept my apologies!

Well, finally I can say it's been a bit of a busy time recently - and it's set to get even busier! With 'Calling Out My Name' due to be released in June, plus a couple of new recording projects - one definite, the other still 'in the pipeline', I'd better make sure I'm fit and healthy! I just hope the distribution is handled better than that of 'I Surrender'! At least this time there has been some promotion on radio - loads of interviews recently, thanks to Simon Whittam - and the fact there was a Song Contest about to happen in Kiev didn't hinder! Thank you to all those who have listened in - and particularly taken part - in those interviews! The only 'down' side to being so busy is that I don't get to spend as much time with my gorgeous boy Satchie!

March saw my first ever visit to Sydney, Australia for the Mardi Gras Party - oh my God it was so fantastic! I was planning on writing a day-by-day account of the trip, and it all started off well - but then rehearsals took over, and I met up with people, and before I knew it, I realised I hadn't written anything for a couple of days. So I planned to do a catch-up on the flight back - and slept for most of it! Then I was going to write it once I was home - but it never happened, I'm afraid! I'm so sorry - only having the first couple of days of the trip documented doesn't make for a full account really, does it?! Perhaps we could put the stuff I DID manage to chronicle on here - we'll see. You've all seen the comments I made about the trip on the Message Board, and the photos by various people have been seen by many as well, so I think you can tell how enjoyable it was for me. Wonderful people who treated me SO well - what more could I want?

Since then of course, I have been lucky enough to meet some of the 'Boarders', as I now call you folks who regularly contribute to the Message Board. Allan and Carole both came along to meet me at Flamingo's in Blackpool, and Lee from Liverpool, who introduced himself at the show, has since started contributing regularly. It really is lovely to meet you all - and I believe a few more will be saying 'hello' in the next few weeks - whether they wear a kilt or not!

Now then - I'm writing this just a couple of days after the 50th Eurovision Song Contest. I have added quite a few posts to the Message Board about the show, the songs, and the evening in general, so I won't repeat them all here. Suffice to say I thought Kiev eventually put on a great show, and all the performers really seemed to raise their standard from the Thursday semi-final. Congratulations to them all.

As soon as we can, we will tell you all about the new projects - one can be told very soon! Take care everyone, and I hope to see you around and about - keep an eye on the Diary to see where I'm performing.

Thanks again for your amazing support.
